Locks of Love

So my cousin and her daughter have amazing hair, I mean like it is unfair how thick and pretty it is. Anyways they have been growing it out for a while now and decided today that they were going to chop it off for Locks of Love. What is Locks of Love you ask? Well it is this awesome program, what happens is you donate hair 14" in length and they make them into wigs for cancer patients, mainly kids I think. Lots of salons will cut it for free if you are donating it, I know great clips does. Anyways so my cousin's daughter was in getting her hair cut and a man asked why they were saving her braid, and she told him why, well this man totally got teary eyed and was like "Thank you so much, My daughter has lukemia and she just recieved her wig, thank you for being so kind and giving you are really making a difference." He then thanked my cousin too and offered to pay for their haircuts. But since they went went to Great Clips it was free anyways. But what a good lesson for my little cousin to learn, not to mention the rest of us. I am not sure if Locks of Love has a website, I'm sure they do, but you could probably just go into any Great clips, They mail it for you too.

So if anyone has long hair and is thinking of cutting it this is a great way to make a bit of a difference in the world.

Leila's Blessing

So the long anticipated blessing of one Leila Reese Davis took place last saturday, the 8th, at our casa. My fantastic dad made some fantastic food, chinese of course, my hubby gave one awesome blessing, and my Leila screamed her head off all the way through it. The crying did stop once she had a plate of food in front of her, thats my girl.

Her is Hailey climbing under the tables in the backyard, do not ask me why I don't know.
Right after the blessing, she was so mad.
What an attractive family, esspecially the mom, ooh-la-la. But seriously look at how cute my kids are, Heaths not too shabby either, by the way I love him in church clothes...so sexy. He does look a little , um, wasted in this picture.
I hate glasses and I want eye surgery, but I am a weeny.

I will post more pictures of her gorgeous dress.

Korbyn Davis Foster

This is my Brand new nephew. His name is Korbyn and he was born wednesday at 10:00pm. His mommy and daddy are Dabbie and Jeremy. This little guy was born 14 weeks early, thats right we wa only cooking for 27 weeks, his due date was june 9th, 2008. He is 2 pounds 7 ounces, and perfect. We are exstatic that he is so healthy and strong. He was on a ventilator for a while but he actually pulled it out and is now breathing on his own. He is in the NICU where they are keeping him warm, monitoring his health, and reminding him to breath. I was so lucky to get to go up and not only see him but touch him as well, and he may look little and fragile but he is so strong. He was holding my finger, kicking his little feet like crazy, screaming, and flailing his precious little arms around. I am so proud of Debbie and Jeremy who are doing amazing. They are already the best parents this little guy could ask for. But I ask you all to keep this little guy in your prayers that he will stay healthy and grow lot's. He will be in the NICU till June. It is crazy how fast one can fall in love with a child.

I LOVE YOU KORBYN!!!

Snobby Sewer

So I was at a sewing class, and I thought I was helping out and instead I was called a "Snobby sewer". I was a bit hurt at first ut now I think it is pretty freakin hilarious. So I have started a new blog, and you bet it is called "Snobby Sewer". It is going to be a blag all about sewing I hope to have patterns, tips, and hopefully some Q and A going on. It will be fantastic. I know a couple of you guys have been thinking about starting to design so hopefully the Snobby Sewer will be able to give you guys a hand.
I am actually glad I was called this name because now I will be able to showcase some tips and help some people out, even you guys who do not sew I will have some cute little hand sewn flower and little hair bow ideas and instructions.
This whole "snobby" thing has reminded me of a quote.
"We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a CHILD of GOD. Your playing small Doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to manifest the Glory of God that is within us. ALL of us. And as we let our light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence autiomatically liberates others."
-Nelson Mandela

I LOVE this quote. I have it up in my "sewing space" so I can see it when I design and sew. It hepls me to remember to do my best the best that I can do it. It also helps me to rememer that we all have our own talents and that we should develop them, and be thankful for them, rather than wishing I was as talented as someone else...there is always someone better then you are, that helps me be what I am, not what someone else is, or what others are looking for.
Moral of the story is: Be yourself, and you shouldn't have to be sorry about it. Nelson Mandela said so.

Chiropractor

Since the accident, in december, I have had the worst neck and shoulder pain and stiffness. It is to the point where if I sit down and sew for a half an hour my neck and shoulder get so stff I can barely move for a week, which is a serious problem seeing how I have four weddings coming up. So I went to see a chiropractor, one Ty Ruddell. He was so nice. Anyways, as he is doing his little chiropractor physical on my neck and shoulder he says and I quote

"yeah, your neck is jacked, and your shoulder isn't looking good either. At least we know your not faking"

SWEET I know. so I am going bak both thurday and friday to start getting myself back into sewing shape. I am also going to take Leila in tomorrow as well. She was in the car and was not hurt but as Dr.Ruddell points out she really has no way of telling me wether or not she is feeling stiff or having back pain or anything so I am going to take her in to get some tests done. I never would have thought to take my 11 month old to the chiropractor but it really does make sense to. I am just hoping that she doesn't have anything wrong, I would feel terrible if she has been in pain this whole time. Well, my shoulder and neck are now killing me so, peace!
